Nisrine talks about her experience at Caluwaerts Uytterhoeven

In September 2021, Nisrine El Massoudi joined Caluwaerts Uytterhoeven Lawyers. Within our firm, she specialises in Environmental Law under the guidance of Mr. Yannick Grauwels.
Meanwhile, Nisrine is in her final year of the bar internship and is happy to look back on the course she has taken as a trainee lawyer at our firm.
The story of Nisrine
‘During my master's degree, I developed a particular interest in environmental law. Therefore, I could not wait to turn my theoretical knowledge into practice and enter the legal profession as an ‘environmental law lawyer’. Once started, the love for environmental law only increased.
It immediately became clear that relevant experience and knowledge are not learned at school, but only become visible ‘in the field’.
During my internship years, I was always treated as a fully-fledged lawyer and immediately allowed to act for all kinds of clients. Indeed, trainees are allowed to handle large and complex files at short notice. In this way, the firm ensures that trainees' self-confidence is boosted and their sense of responsibility grows.
Within the firm, there is always room for you to specialise in those areas of expertise you find interesting. So when I indicated that I wanted to do purely environmental law and, to a lesser extent, other files, this was well received and answered immediately.
Furthermore, the working atmosphere at the office cannot be matched. It is pleasant to work in a young group of people. The office also regularly organises fun activities under the motto ‘work hard, play hard’. I can therefore conclude by saying that quite a few colleagues have also become friends.’
In summary
Nisrine likes to sum up her experience as follows: ‘I appreciate the dose of responsibility and appreciation. As a result, I gladly brave the Kennedy Tunnel every day and don't have to work 9-5. I am already looking forward to my further career and growth as a lawyer.’
