In September 2022, Zoë Amber Deijkersjoined Caluwaerts Uytterhoeven Lawyers. Within our firm, she focuses on real estate law and private construction law under the guidance of Mr. Steven Slachmuylders.
Meanwhile, Zoë Amber has started the second year of her bar internship and is happy to look back on her first year as a trainee lawyer at our firm.
‘During my master studies, I developed a particular interest in special contracts, property law, liability law and general contract law. A bar internship in real estate and private construction law therefore seemed an excellent opportunity to further develop this interest in the legal profession. In the very varied cases, I have already been able to gain a lot of knowledge that was not, or to a lesser extent, covered in law school.
The firm entrusts trainee lawyers with a lot of responsibility to handle files from A to Z independently, under the guidance of an experienced partner. Among other things, trainee lawyers are thus given the opportunity to devise their own strategic approach within a file. When the dominus litis of the case subsequently shares the same opinion, this can give you a lot of self-confidence and motivation as a trainee lawyer.
Trainee lawyers, lacking practical experience in the legal profession, have many questions. Within our team, there is always room to ask these questions or to test strategic thinking with colleagues.
In addition, Caluwaerts Uytterhoeven offers the opportunity to specialise further in cases you find interesting. This offers great added value to the firm and to your training from trainee lawyer to full lawyer.
Furthermore, we form a very close-knit group. For example, the office regularly organises fun teambuildings to get to know each other better outside the workplace. This ensures that, on the one hand, the office creates a family atmosphere from which friendships can develop. On the other hand, the office offers a very professional working environment where sharing knowledge and experience is central. This combination makes this office a very pleasant place to work.’
Zoë Amber likes to sum up her experience as follows: ‘I learn every day and enjoy going to the office. This first year as a trainee lawyer was already a very exciting learning experience and I am looking forward to my further career at Caluwaerts Uytterhoeven Lawyers.’
