Steven Slachmuylders

Mr. Steven Slachmuylders has been a lawyer at the Antwerp Bar since 2011 and joined Caluwaerts Uytterhoeven in October 2014. As of 1 May 2016, he is a partner of the firm.

Mr. Slachmuylders obtained his Master of Laws with distinction from the University of Antwerp in 2011. He chose a Criminal Law Minor and a Civil Law Major, and developed a particular interest in contract and special contract law in the broadest sense. Afterwards, Steven Slachmuylders obtained the degree of Master in Business Law with distinction at the University of Antwerp.

Steven Slachmuylders has been academically active as a teaching assistant at the University of Antwerp since 1 February 2015.

Besides his particular interest in real estate and construction law, he also focuses on civil law in the broad sense. He also gained extensive experience in traffic law, defending both individuals and companies before the Police Court.

Mr. Slachmuylders has numerous publications as a real estate expert and is a regular speaker at seminars.

In his master's thesis, Steven Slachmuylders examined the effect of the Royal Decree of 12 January 2007 on the various contractual clauses in brokerage agreements of real estate agents in his thesis ‘Investigation of real estate brokerage contracts’, for which he received the highest distinction. The thesis was subsequently awarded the third Laureate Prize Jura Falconis and was also published.

During his internship at the Antwerp Bar, he won numerous awards including:

  • Second finalist 2014 Flemish Moot Court, organised by the Bar in Dendermonde.
  • Second finalist 2014 Ridder René Victor Moot Court, organised by the Flemish Conference of the Antwerp Bar.
