Dirk Berckmans
Mr. Dirk Berckmans has been a member of the Antwerp Bar since 1982. He has gained extensive experience in corporate law in general and transaction practice in particular.
Mr. Berckmans holds a Law degree (1982), a candidate in Philosophy (1979) and a special licence in the American Studies Program (1982). He also obtained the Postgraduate Certificate in Finance (Corporate Finance) (2013).
Dirk Berckmans assists medium-sized and large companies in acquisitions and setting up joint ventures of all kinds nationally and internationally. He has assisted clients in new operations across Europe, the Middle East, China and several African countries.
He advises boards of directors on their strategic choices in the legal field and provides assistance to shareholders regarding their shareholdings and interrelationships with other shareholder groups.
Dirk Berckmans also represents the interests of foreign shareholders in the context of their participations in Belgian companies, both when acquiring and disposing of them.
Furthermore, he often acts as legal advisor in restructuring operations and provides assistance to companies in difficulty.
Finally, he is an independent director in various private companies and organisations such as the the Flemish Federation of Investors and Merito and formerly Iurope, the Belgian Lebanese Business Council, WTC Antwerp and the Belgian Corporate Finance Association. He is an active member of VOKA and Guberna.
