Namitaa Shah

Mr. Namitaa Shah joined our firm in October 2019. She was admitted to the Antwerp Bar in November 2019.

Mr. Shah obtained a Master of Laws with honours from the University of Antwerp in 2019. She purposely opted to pursue her Master’s degree in English as she has always had a keen preference for a more international playing field.

During her master’s programme, Mr. Shah specialised in Law & International Business (major) and Sustainable Development & Global Justice (minor). She spent one semester at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, studying Law and International Business.

During her studies, she developed a particular interest in commercial law in the broad sense (e.g. contracts regarding distribution, franchise and agency, rental agreements, licensing agreements, agreements on the transfer of business, purchase and sale agreements, construction contracts, GT&C, etc.) and intellectual property law. In view of her interest in commercial law and given that this field of law is one of Caluwaerts Uytterhoeven forte, she decided to join the firm’s commercial law team.

Since 2024, Mr. Shah has also been a member of the Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Law (BMM). BMM is a leading professional association for intellectual property law experts, consisting of patent and trademark attorneys, in-house IP counsels, IP lawyers, and professionals working in the field of IP at universities, educational institutes, or other organizations. The association promotes and ensures the quality of professional practice among its members, offering expert advice and guidance on the registration (protection) of trademarks and industrial designs, as well as negotiations and conflict resolution.

Through her involvement in the BMM's annual events and seminars, Mr. Shah connects with professionals from across the world, expanding her international network and strengthening her expertise in the field of intellectual property law.
